Needles & Pins was founded on a lifelong dedication to sewing, craftsmanship, and practical garment construction. Led by Reinet van Schalkwyk, the business draws on over 20 years of hands-on experience in sewing, alterations, and textile work.
She later completed a course through Martinique in basic design, gaining formal training in pattern reading, pattern adjustments, body shape considerations, and garment alterations. Through years of experience, she has learned that while patterns often share similarities, each one presents unique challenges. For this reason, she prefers working from approved patterns and modifying them carefully to achieve the best possible result.
With growing experience, we expanded into custom-made designs, bridal wear, and occasion dresses. By blending traditional techniques with modern styling, we continue to create outfits that reflect individuality while maintaining precision and elegance.
