Candidate for President

I am offering myself as a candidate to serve as President of our Union because I believe in responding to God’s call to serve God’s people, particularly the most vulnerable and downtrodden among us. I also believe that the charter and missions of the Union of Black Episcopalians aligns with Jesus’ message to Peter to care for his sheep. None of us can stand idly when there are those among who are suffering due to the systems, institutions and behaviors of injustice affecting their humanity and livelihood. I am committed to been part of the solution to systemic inequalities in our society beginning within our very own Episcopal Church.

The Rev. Canon Dr. Lynn A. Collins

Candidate for 1st Vice-President

In the past 3 years as the 1st VP, we have strengthened the infrastructure of the UBE by Computerizing the structure. Strengthening the computerized infrastructure, creating easier ways to process finances, updating input data, and educating the Chapter leadership on the online forms is an ongoing educational task. I feel called to continue this work and assist UBE in fulfilling the call to eradicate racism and oppression.

Candidate for 2nd Vice-President

I am seeking the office of 2nd Vice President of the Union of Black Episcopalians because I believe in the transformative power of leadership and community. This organization has long been a beacon of hope, advocacy, and empowerment for Black Episcopalians, and I am deeply committed to advancing its mission. As Vice President, I aim to foster unity, amplify voices, and champion initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by our community. My vision is rooted in collaboration, inclusivity, and a steadfast dedication to ensuring that every member feels seen, heard, and valued. Together, we can build on the foundation of faith and justice that defines the Union of Black Episcopalians, creating a brighter future for generations to come.

Ms. Helen Sharpe-Williams

Candidate for Secretary

I am excited to submit my application for the position of secretary. This role requires collaborating with individuals who possess a variety of personalities and communication styles. One of my key strengths is my ability to connect and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. I have honed my interpersonal skills through previous experiences, allowing me to navigate different dynamics with ease and foster a collaborative environment. Furthermore, I have developed a comprehensive skill set tailored for this position, which includes proficient organizational abilities, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills. I am committed to providing thorough administrative support to help the board operate efficiently and achieve its objectives in serving the Union. My goal is to ensure that the board has all the necessary resources and assistance to fulfill its important mission.

Ms. Rose West

Candidate for Treasurer

I have been the Treasurer for the last 3 years. My vision is to make the treasurer’s position less about bookkeeping and more about looking to the future concerning reporting, investments, and income opportunities.

I have taken the following actions to date:

In the future, I look forward to working with the Board to develop a Legacy/Endowment Fund and streamlining chapter reporting.
